Our OAP cycle is designed to nurture each child's unique development and learning journey in the nursery.

Our Observational & Assessment Framework

At Belinay Nursery, we use the Observation, Assessment, and Planning cycle (OAP) in alignment with the guidance provided in the ‘Developmental Matters’ and ‘Birth to Five Years Matters’ guidance document, to effectively monitor and track your child’s development from the age of 1 year to 4 years and provide appropriate support to help them reach their full potential.

Our Observation, Assessment, and Planning Framework is designed to nurture each child’s unique development and learning journey in the nursery.

Through continuous observation, we capture the key moments of your child’s growth, noting their interests, skills, and areas for improvement. Assessments at the nursery are ongoing and an integral part of our framework. We utilize a variety of methods, including formative and summative assessments, to gain a comprehensive understanding of your child’s progress. These assessments are not just about measuring abilities but also about understanding each child’s learning style and emotional well-being. Insights gained from observation and assessments inform our personalized learning plans, which are flexible and adaptable to each child’s evolving needs. The activities planned for children are engaging, developmentally appropriate, and aligned with their individual interests.

This framework helps to ensure that each child at ‘Bel’ receives the attention and support needed to thrive, fostering a nurturing environment where they feel valued and understood, laying a strong foundation for future learning and development.
